Title: Museum Gift Shop Sales Associate-Part-time

Job Description: The DAR Museum seeks a part-time and on-call Gift Shop Associate to provide high-level customer service to all visitors of the museum shop. Duties include: greeting visitors, assisting customers, operating cash register; open/close gallery & gift shop, and maintaining professional appearance of gift shop environment. Requires experience in retail and/or customer service, preferably in a museum store environment. Ability to work independently, have good organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as cash-handling and computer skills required.

Preferred work schedule includes daytime hours, up to 27 hours per week including Saturdays, but will consider other reduced part-time schedules, such as Saturday only hours, or on-call, contingent hours as well.

Title: Genealogist

Job Description: The National Society has two immediate full-time openings for a Genealogist in the Registrars Office. Primary responsibilities focus on examining and evaluating lineage-based information provided on DAR membership applications or supplemental applications, and corresponding with prospective members or Chapter Registrar if further documentation is needed.

Qualifications Previous experience in conducting genealogical research is required. The successful candidate must be able to analyze and evaluate lineage information, be detail oriented and resolve issues from conflicting data, and be able to write clear and concise letters explaining difficult research problems, including providing suggestions to the applicant for further research. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including the ability to adapt quickly to proprietary databases, is essential.

Limited overtime hours possible during board weeks, (April, June, October and December) however, must be available to work overtime hours during one week of annual meeting.

Title: Technical Director-Constitution Hall

Job Description: The National Society headquarters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, located across the Ellipse near the White House is well known as the home of Constitution Hall, a National Historic Landmark where events or performances by Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, Duran Duran, The Temptations, Janet Jackson, Paul Simon, BB King, Prince, Kem, Robin Williams and game show Jeopardy have appeared, seeks an individual with experience in professional event production to provide technical support for all events in DAR Constitution Hall.

Duties involve meeting with clients (licensee) to plan and coordinate technical aspects of events, scheduling maintenance, renovation and cleaning of the venue, overseeing event load-ins and load-outs, setting-up and working with other team members, vendors and promoters in executing the events.

Qualifications: A minimum of three years experience in technical planning and operations in a professional venue, or experience as a member of a stagehand or executing event production, is required, Knowledge of and experience in operating sound, video and stage lighting equipment, event production involving stage set-up, front of house personnel, including security, and touring show requirements, are required. College degree in theater or event management or production preferred. Qualified applicants must also demonstrate excellent communication skills, ability to work with diverse groups of people, and be able to meet multiple deadlines under changing or ambiguous conditions. Must be able to operate HVAC systems, use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. AutoCAD experience preferred.

Must be available to work an unconventional work schedule (non-regular hours), including frequent nights and weekends, and some holidays throughout the year based on the schedule of events, as well as during annual convention (Continental Congress).

Title: Part-time Security Officer

Job Description: The National Society is seeking a part-time (approximately 24 hours per week) Security Officer to join the staff of the NSDAR Security Department.

Duties involve greeting visitors, issuing visitor passes and operating security equipment. Security officers are responsible for ensuring safety and security protocols are followed, contacting departments upon arrival of visitors, receiving and logging- in deliveries and securing items, patrolling and securing premises and performing routine security functions including opening/closing of the building, turning on/off alarm systems and responding to emergencies.

A minimum of six months security experience and high school diploma, or equivalent, is required. Candidates must have the ability to work with the public in a highly professional manner. Excellent judgment, decision-making skills and the ability to keep information confidential are required. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to stressful or emergency situations is absolutely critical.

Candidates must also successfully meet the D.C. Metropolitan Police security eligibility requirements for a Special Police Officer or a Security Officer license.
